Setting up a new Company in Dynamics GP (The 2008 Way)

In 2007, if you had a set up a new company in Great Plains, you would

1. Create a company using Utilities

2. Review the settings in the setup screens of the old company(or your documentation), and set them up one by one in the new company.

3. Do this for most of the core modules one by one -
System
GL
BR
FA
PM
RM
SOP
POP
Inventory
Payroll

In 2008, if you have to set up a new company in Dynamics GP, you would

1. Create a company using Utilities

2. Use the Rapid Configuration tool to export the company configuration.

3. Review and edit the configuration in Excel sheets and Import the Configuration into the new company.

I usually use this tool to set up a new company that needs the same setup as other companies. You can choose the modules you want to copy including system, company, GL, AR, AP etc. The link is for 10.0. You can do this with 9.0 and 8.0 as well. Tool is under automated solutions on customer source/partner source.

Hello All. This is Jason , a newbie to Gp but liking it by the day. I know how to setup a company but i need to hit the ground running with the payroll module.

Can anyone be so kind to send me friendly 'How to configure payroll ( monthly salaries ) for newbies ' step or guide?

The more I read the 2010 Gp documentation , the more I become lost. I have created 3 employees and am trying out my luck.

A step by step guide ( from setting up to generating basic reports) will make my day

Regards.
